Art of the Medieval and Renaissance World

This course will examine art from the early Christian and Medieval period through the Renaissance in Italy and in Northern Europe, including Carolingian, Romanesque, Gothic, Early Renaissance, High Renaissance, Venetian Renaissance, Mannerism, and Northern Renaissance Art. We will examine the masterpieces of Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Titian, Jan Van Eyck and many others; the artistic centres of Florence, Venice and Rome, as well as look at the magnificent cathedrals and their sculpture, glasswork and murals. Discover the Dark Ages, witness the Re-birth of Europe and immerse yourself into its art.
